  • Hello GMC, welcome to my new Macedonian style lesson. :)

The reason that I'm doing this lesson is mainly because of the great Vlatko Stefanovski - a Macedonian guitar player who's technique had great influence on me back in the days. I did an arrangement for the acoustic guitar, and will do for the electric guitar as well in February. So bare with me, if you want to capture that Macedonian feel.

The song is melodic and simple, time signature is odd - 7/8 notes, and we are using the E Phrygian-Mixolydian mode (5th mode of A harmonic minor).

The lesson will have a small modulation, where we go from Phrygian-Mixolydian to mixolydian mode in the chorus. Have fun!

    Time signature: 7/8
    Key: E
    Tempo: 135bpm

    This lesson contains:

    - Macedonian folklore song
    - playing a melody over chords
    - use of a phrygian-mixolydian mode
    - odd time signature
    - acoustic arrangement

    Settings: Piezo pickup, little reverb.

Here's a link to the lesson with electric version of this song:
