LESSON #74 - Spooky speed and symmetry

In this lesson, we are going to explore the concept of "Symmetry" using shapes that are the same on more than one string. In this case, the B and high E string. The entire lesson is in the key of E Minor as is the backing. Here is a preview of the backing track.

Let’s warm up a bit and get our fingers ready to rip! - FINGER YOGA!

Let’s do our usual Finger Yoga stretches. Here is a link to the video for references.

PERFECT SYMMETRY - Part 1

Let’s explore symmetry in the Key of E Minor on the B and E string using a Minor Shape. For our first one, let’s keep it simple. Let’s strike once per four note group

Now let’s also alternate pick this and palm mute it.

And of course Double Pick it as well

PERFECT SYMMETRY - Part 2

Now, let’s try this as a “Symmetrical” pattern on two strings and believe it or not, it’s still E minor.

Now let’s play what we have so far against our backing.

PERFECT SYMMETRY - Part 3
