Of course, I'm buying from Musician's Friend if I do get it one day soon. I'm very possibly getting my Alesis MKII mixing speakers for Christmas, so I don't have to save up for that anymore. 
I didn't want to upgrade to Superior Drummer 2.0 (special offer for EZdrummer users) because I would want to get the Metal Foundry expansion as well. I need to stick with something less professional until I get better at music. So, experienced users, what do you think?

Well, not sure really.. sampled drums are sampled drums. EZDrummer pop/rock drums are very good for the price and I don't think other products are worth it that much to be honest. Drumkit from Hell expansion has drums that are supposed to sound like metal produced drums, but they are not that great. For metal, I used mostly pop/rock, and mixed it on my own, and get lot better results.
I'm using Superior 2.0, although lately, I've been using only EZDrummer pop/rock, because you won't get that much better quality with Avater base either, samples are smudged, and lack dynamics, specially the cymbals. The whole engine needs to be upgraded. In order words, it doesn't justify the price, with proper mixing you can achieve almost identical results with EZDrummer basic pop/rock sample base. EDIT: If would be better to invest money in some good mastering and compressor plugins or MIDI groove libraries from Toontrack, then getting expansion sets. Ivan has a good point there, it's a good idea to plish your mixing and mastering skills and buy good plug ins that will enhance the sound, but I think this comes with experience.
But personally, I think these drum libraries sound great a lot of the time, just a bit of tweaking and of course, all mixes are relative and they depend on what you want as a final mix. -------------------- Visit my:

Pretty much agree with Ivan that you should be able to get the same result, or close to it, with good mixing. You'll need a good eq and compressor, with side chain, to do this. There are plenty of mixing hardware and software options capable of doing this. Mastering here (and mastering hardware/software) should only come in to it for the end result i.e. when the complete stereo track is ready. Get the mix sorted first rather than use mastering, and mastering equipment, as a bandaid to 'fix' mixing issues. -------------------- Get your music professionally mastered by anl AES registered Mastering Engineer.
