A note to our beginner students: "1" and "6" (etc) when speaking about chords - in this case refers to the scale degrees from which the chords are constructed.
In order to fully understand this you first need to learn the scales mentioned in the beginning (Ab Major F# Major). Once you do, you will realize that the chord notes are taken from these scales.
Once you have understand this you will be able to easily "borrow" chord progressions and cool tonalities from famous songs, creating your own unique blend of styles using theory.
Hi guys, and welcome to my easy "Easy" lesson :)
It was composed by Lionel Richie for his band Commodores and was made famous for the new generation by Faith No More whose version I based this lesson upon.
This is an easy song that you can learn for the fun of it or you can play with ease with any cover band that you might have.
The structure of the song is:
Instrumental intro
Verse
Chorus
(all the same chords - video 2, be careful @ the rhythmical alteration in the verse - video 3)
Pre-bridge - video 4
Bridge - video 5
Pre-solo bridge - video 6
Solo - video 7 to 10, same chords like the verse
Chorus
Outro - same chords like the pre-bridge
Watch the spoken video (video 1) for more musical details.
Enjoy practicing!
