Palm Muting 16th Notes

Hi GMC-ers and welcome to my first lesson.
This lesson is a typical metal riffs lesson with lots of palm muting. It helps you practice the 16th notes picking. The proper positioning of the hands–as it normally is in every aspect of guitar playing - is essential.

What do I mean by that?
The first thing is that you have to pick in the middle, between your humbuckers (if you have a H-S-S or S-S-S guitar above the middle pickup).
 This is the right position.
To help to your picking hand you should support it with your pinky. (To help your picking hand, it's useful to support it with your pinky under the bridge pickup) More to come about the proper hand positioning in the future, as I find it very important.

This lesson – aside from practicing the 16th note picking- will show you how you can bridge a verse and a chorus part, in a way, that would make it more exciting for the solo guitarist and for the audience as well. The essence is that the verse riff in F# minor will modulate to C# in the bridge, only to return to F# minor again at the start of the chorus. I used some power chords in the chorus, which will make the sound much fuller, than just holding down a simple root and fifth. This is most useful in bands where there is only one guitarist, but it can work just as fine where there are 2.

I used 2 kinds of D power chords in the chorus section. I ended the lesson with a slide from the last power chord.
