First and foremost, Jesus Christ is my everything. He has blessed me with the talent of playing guitar, though I have played piano when I was younger. I love writing music, and it consumes most of my free time.
UPDATE: VIDEO PLAYTHROUGH IS ON YOUTUBE (scroll down to see embedded video)
Hi everyone, Brandon here,
It's been a while. Still rocking and rolling. I've got a collab that I've been working on with an internet friend, and as it nears release time I've been thinking on how to classify this. I want to make the subgenre as part of the title on YouTube. But I can't classify what this would be.
What subgenre of metal would you call this track? Thanks so much for listening, you guys are the first ones to hear this in its completion.
As some of you may know, I have a YouTube channel. I'm looking for your advice and tips you would give to someone who is stuck in progressing on guitar. I get comments a lot that say: "I feel like I hit a wall in guitar progress" or "I'm stagnating at the same level".
I've touched on this topic before on my channel, but I really want to deep-dive on this topic, and really it could be a help to my own progression as well. I want to encourage guitarists who feel like giving up, or maybe already have.
What is your advice for pushing past the "roadblock" to furthering guitar playing?
Tips you provide will help make this video I'm making the best resource for musicians like us.
This is an unofficial release of a track called "New Reality" from my upcoming instrumental album: Disconnection. This track is the mix before mastering has been applied. Only overall volume was raised. Already had a compliment on the quality of the mix, which is always nice.
The concept of this instrumental album is disconnection from the world to recharge, or even minimize your digital footprint - restoring physical footprints and relationships with people in the real world, rather than those in the virtual. You know, basically we are always on our devices instead of talking to people in real life?
All music performed and programmed by me. Yes, I'm playing the piano with my MIDI Keystation 49e, using Philharmonik's piano preset. I love it because you can hear the actual hammers on the strings from when it was recorded by the engineers! Check out my Instagram for clips of me playing some parts on my keyboard.
I've got lots of ideas for this album, and I'm already excited in this writing process. I'll try to not overthink it, and just let it flow. Let me know what you think of this track. Thanks!
Hey guys! For those interested, I put my own musical style to Psalm 47. Of course, thousands of years ago, Hebrews would have sung this song in their own style and culture and language. I've wanted to do this for a while so I finally did. I put it on Bandcamp, and uploaded it to Distrokid for distribution everywhere else digitally.
LYRICS:
Sing praises to God, sing praises! Sing praises to God our King! For God is the King of all the earth, sing praises with a psalm!
Shout to God! Sing praise!
All nations, clap your hands, and joyfully shout to the LORD! Yahweh, Most High, is awesome, the greatest King of the world He overcomes the nations under Israel, and puts the enemies at their feet The Promised Land, their inheritance His love for Jacob we sing!
God has risen with a mighty shout, the LORD ascends with trumpets aloud! Let us shout!
And sing praises to God, sing praises! Sing praises to God our King! For God is the King of all the earth, sing praises with a psalm!
The sovereign Lord of hosts, He reigns over nations alone, For He is King, our ruler is seated on His holy throne The nobles join together with the people of Abraham For the kings of the earth belong to whom is exalted!
And sing praises!
Sing praises to God, sing praises! Sing praises to God our King! For God is the King of all the earth, oh sing a psalm!
I will proclaim Yahweh's name, declare the greatness of our God.

I want to list some notable things in this project.
(1.) This is a combination of basically every style I've ever done. (2.) When I almost say, instead of sing, "He overcomes the nations under Israel," was inspired by Michael W. Smith's style of singing he does at times. (3.) The orchestration style is reminiscent of my Falling Winter Christmas album. https://brandonburch.bandcamp.com/album/falling-winter (4.) Did you catch the back and forth time signature changes from the normal 6/4 to 5/4? (5.) There are 12 recorded tracks of hand claps, representing the 12 tribes of Israel. It started with my noticing 10 claps were starting to sound huge, so I went all the way to 12 for fun. Adding different effects made it sound even larger. (6.) I did my best to stay as true to the original words in Psalm 47 as possible, while making tweaks to make it work in English. (7.) The last spoken part is taken from a song of Moses in Deuteronomy 32:3. (8.) Most piano parts were played by me in pieces using overdubbing techniques - only a few fast parts were programmed. (9.) The orchestra and piano parts were from Philharmonik software programmed with my MIDI keyboard. (10.) The rhythm guitars were recorded with my Ibanez RG8. Although I've recently changed to Seymour Duncan pickups, these were still recorded with my older EMG 808s.
I'm thinking of "upgrading" my 8-string guitar setup - and by that I mean selling my Ibanez RG8 and buying another 8-string.
I was looking at the Ibanez RGIM8MH, but the problem is that it has Active Pickups. I think all of these 8-string guitars on Ibanez's website have the actives. I want to get away from active and get into passive again. I want more control over my sound.
My price range is hopefully around $1000+ (USD) maybe less if possible. Any recommendations on fanned-fret, passive, extended range guitars? Doesn't have to be Ibanez - any good company.
