Seeing as guitar is a given I should tell you my taste in guitar. I love metal! Almost all kinds, specially power metal. I am focusing on soloing. I am pretty much obsessed with all of Pavel's lessons and I wish he was still around but we still have so many great instructors. Besides guitar like everyone I love movies and I play a bit of video games now and then. Also love to read. That said everything is on the back burner right now cause I really want to be an accomplished guitarist!

If anyone is familiar with this song I have a question about this lick here

D|----------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|----------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
F|--------9------5-----9-----5-------5----------9------5-----9------5------5--|
C|---5-7---5-7---5-7---5-7---5-9---9---5-7---5-7---5-7---5-7---5-9---9-|
G|----------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
C|----------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

*Note I couldn`t get the PMing dots to align so I left them out

In the recording the last note 9 on string C before the lick is repeated kind of...studders...I`ve been trying to think of how to explain the sound better. I`m sorry if it doesn`t make sense. How is that sound accomplished? Does the technic have a name so I can better communicate it later?

Hello GMCers

I`ve been searching the forums for this topic and although there are many posts on changing the strings and tuning to standard with a floating bridge I can`t seem to find a topic on tuning from standard to drop C (maybe I haven`t searched hard enough though). Can someone please explain how this is done? I believe that since the tension on the strings is much less that you need to adjust the screws in the back so there is less tension in the springs to make it equal. This makes sense to me. But actually applying this...should I attempt tuning to drop C then adjust spring tension? I`ve tried this with no success. I lessen spring tension and must re-tune, which I expect, but bridge falls below parallel again. Any help is appreciated!

Before joining GMC I never really had any direction so I picked how I thought was most efficient. I believed how I was picking was alternate picking and didn't really know otherwise. After learning several lessons and reading the feedback and questions for each lesson I began to realize that my picking style was actually economy picking which is fine with me as I LOVE sweeping (5 string shapes are awesome thanks Pavel!). Anyways, alot of the lessons suggest alternate picking instead of economy picking. So my question. What is the advantage of EVERY stroke being UP and DOWN? For instance, Pavel's 3nps Ionian Speed Picking lesson. I naturally pick with a down stroke if I were to go from string 5 to 4 and with alternate picking that stroke would be UP. I think economy would be faster... What am I missing? I hope my question makes sense.

A side note, I love this site so much. Thank you GMC Instructors!!! I really appreciate all the work you guys put into every lesson!
