Hi Lian!
My name is Marc, I live in Germany and I'm happy and thankful to have the 'gmc metal monster' as my
mentor for the next 3 month
My first day of playing guitar is about 8 years ago.
I started with a classical guitar and moved to a steel string acoustic about 4 years ago.
But I never reached a level where I can play a song - it was more like struggling a few days
with something I want to learn and then giving up because of no time to continue..
last year I got my first electric and started to put some more effort in practice
specific techniques on acoustic and electric guitar.
Some of my favorite bands are: Mastodon, Dillinger Escape Plan, Entombed, Killswitch Engage, Tool
There are times where I like to hear some Metalcore/Industrial
To cut a long story short, here are the facts..
What I suppose to know / to be able to play:
- open chords
- power chords
- simple fingerpicking (and travis picking - I managed to play a solo, too)
- I know what a scale is and how modes are built and can play few of them in several positions
- rhythm guitar
- some of your level 3 / 4 lessons
What I expect from our MTP / what I want to learn and dive into:
- improve hands syncronisation when going up to speed (say 16th notes > 90bpm)
- sweeping
- improvising / phrasing - I stuck here because of inexistent knowledge (say
what possibilities I have to play over a simple chord progression - although I know
about scales.. that's kinda lame and I want to change this asap)
- building 'killer' riffs
That being said, I'm awaiting your first assignment(s)..
