Picking

Hi Gabriel,

first of all, thank you for your excellent lessons!

My question is about right hand picking in the certain type of licks. These licks are very common in blues - they are played on several strings (one note per string) with bending, examples are part 6 in your "Blues licks" lesson and the part 7 of the "Rocker Riff 2" lesson.

I always had troubles with such kind of licks using alternate picking, until I noticed in the video that you use down-down-up strokes to play the lick from "Blues Licks".

However, in the Rocker Riff 2 lesson lick, I cannot see in the video how do you pick - it's not very clean. Do you use alternate picking or another strategy? Is there a common rule for such kind of licks (probably a stupid question ) ?
