Howdy From Houston

Hi all,

I'm Lee, I live just north of Houston, Texas, I'm a full time student (pre-med), and work full time and now part time guitar practicer (not player by any stretch of my imagination).

Anyways, I'm brand spanking new to guitar playing, in fact, I just bought my first one tonight, and have already logged a few hours practicing. I thought I'd give my frethand a rest since the ol' digits were starting to cramp up, so here I am. I look forward to making some friends on here, and learning as much as possible about playing the guitar in general, but more specifically, I'd looove to learn how to shred. I <3 Metal.

Anyone with any recommended starting points, besides the beginner's/shred lessons, lemme know!

Also, does anyone out there have any recommendations on a site, or a book where I can get info on tuning, tone, restringing (just in case), and what settings will get me the most out of my amp?
