Hello everyone! Scott from Canada here. I've been lurking around GMC for awhile now, and have recently decided to take a more active role in my learning the guitar.
I've been playing on and off for a couple of years now, with most of my experience coming from jamming with friends and noodling around while watching t.v. Needless to say, I could be alot better with some direction.
I have recently started reading Andrew's theory page with hopes of improving my own composition skills. As for lessons, right now I'm following along with the beginner and intermediate mentor training programs and have enjoyed playing through some of the lessons I never would have considered before. I look forward to becoming a mentored student myself at some point and hope the opportunity becomes available.
I enjoy all music styles, but lately have been listening to alot of metal from bands like Trivium, Metallica, Shadows Fall, Killswitch, Lamb of God, etc. taking priority. As for gear, I'm currently playing a Gibson SG through a little 15watt Marshall practice amp.
Anyway, long story short, another newb crawls in from the dark packing an axe and dreaming of shredding.
Oh! One more thing, I want to thank everyone who takes the time out of there busy schedules to make this place what it is, it's pretty amazing that a community like this exists and such opportunities are made available to us all.
