  • Hi GMC!

Welcome to my new lesson in the style of The Raconteurs, an amazing Alternative Rock band formed by Jack White, from The White Stripes, Brendan Benson, Patrick Keeler and Jack Lawrence.

    Music Style:
Their style is defined as Alternate Rock, but they combine sounds from Blues Rock, Garage, Indie and Power Pop. If you follow other projects by Jack White, you'll find important connections in both style and philosophy. In this lesson I've composed a tune that recreated their most powerful side, based on rocker guitars and explosive riffs that can be also find on both The White Stripes, and Jack White solo albums.

    Tonality, Chord Progression & Scales:
This lesson combines E Mixolydian with E minor (pentatonic). This scale choices are directly related to their big southern and blues influences. The first riff is based on Mixolydian power chords, while the other riffs and solos have been composed using Pentatonic minor scale.

    Techniques:
This lesson is both for rhythm and lead guitar. You will find different techniques like strumming, alternate picking, muting, legato, bending and vibrato. Both Jack and Brendan are very creative guitarists so this lesson will provide new tools for arranging your own songs.

    Sound:
I used Fractal Ax8's Suhr Bagner 30 amp (bogner emulation), Cubase 9.5 to record audio and midi, Superior Drummer 3 for drums and Trillian for bass.

    Amp settings:

    Tuning: Standard 440.
