After reading this by the first poster I had to make a comment. AND this will give away my age but oh well....lol. I had the honor of watching Carlos live in the winter of 1969/1970 and I can say that as soon as the video started it took me right back. AND Carlos had plenty of runs as David has. He is right on. Just because Carlos has gotten to be a senior and his leads are not that fast does not mean that he did not have them in his prime. Carlos and Duane Allman were at the time my upfront live heros and after picking up where I left off at around a year later {on guitar] it really gives me inspiration.

Carlos Santana is one of today's most influential guitar players. His unique style blending rock and latin music has inspired countless players. Today we will take a look at his style and learn how to improvise like he does.
Santana uses mostly the Dorian mode blended with the minor pentatonic scale. We'll work in the key of D. Make sure that everything you play is very clean as it is an important aspect of Carlos' playing.
Practice slowly and watch your bends. Have fun!
