So I'm not easily enraged, but these past few days have been really bad to me and today I'm just wholey irritable and flat out pissed off. I snap at all the people that try to talk to me and every little thing makes me angry. so two things:

1.) Can someone give me a song or sometihng to play to help me let it out? Something strummy maybe...something I can play pissed off and not think about.

2.) Is there anything that makes you angry?

I should of called this the "bad day" thread

1) Murder by Katatonia

2) Lots of things make me angry, but life's too short to be pissed off. Just rise above it, everything will be fine.

Edit: No good comes from being in a bad mood, you bring everyone else around you down aswell.

I know that, but that still shouldn't invalidate anger and it sometimes needs more taking care of than just letting it go.

I had been wondering where you were Spider.
I like to play a song by Nick Cave called Ships when I am feeling rather cross - god knows why that one helps but it does. It's just a strummy one but the power in it is fabulous. Maybe you can do a couple of 'let it go' songs and then follow with a gentle 'calm the water' tune such a Redemption Song by Bob Marley or Better Be Home Soon by Crowded House.
Also, to beat up a pillow and give it a good talking to can be a quick easy release valve.
I have been analysing anger and find it comes form a combination of fear and powerlessness. Not to go too deep in this post but if you look within for any of that you may be able to see causes and then start to feel powerful again - which kinda takes the energy out of the angry/down feelings. smile.gif
HTH cos I'm missing your funny posts.

Ooohhh Nick Cave - great taste PlayAllDay (me and mine got married with Cave warbling along to The Ship Song in the background). Cave btw has an awful lot of good and interesting things to say about the human condition.

Strikes me that quite a bit of 70s/80s new wave and reggae would be good for 1) Spidey - 'I fought the law', 'Police and thieves', 'Love song' (The Damned)...

For 2) - lots of things - from big things like bigotry and poverty, through more day to day stuff like dumb bureaucracy through to minor stuff like our cat poo'ing in the window box (the little things that mark my own personal inability to roll with life better rolleyes.gif ).

You need to release the anger, channel it, use it positively rather then bottle it up until it explodes (good idea about good songs to strum along to). But we're all human and sometimes we blow and I'm sure that those that know and love you will forgive so don't fret on it too much . (Philosophically it was always Nietzsche's point - we are human, all too human.)

I have bad days when I snap at people (and our kittens). I went through a lot of anger management as a child (I got expelled from school a few times). I was taught to try to get out of the situation before I get to my Mr Angry stage - so I walk away and avoid situations/arguments a lot. However I also know that if I realise that the situation/argument is unavoidable then, for me, the best course is to deal with it in a managed way. What works for me, if I can't cope/escape, is not to let rip at a person but at a poor defenseless object. PlayAllDay's right here, pillows are good. I've also found that it is not good to dwell on resentments - for me it's a case of get it out, deal with it and move on. I can't say this would be good for anyone else but it's what I do.

Cheers,
Tony

Misfits songs are all strumming, you dont do much thinking about them, and some will vent your anger pretty good. Or you could listen to Nile and put your face through a wall, that usually calms me down.

Well thanks Tony smile.gif , and thanks for correcting the name because my brain has been on standby lately and I couldn't quite remember it past 'Ships'! I could have looked it up but lazy is also the word of the moment with me. laugh.gif
How lovely to have it playing at your wedding. biggrin.gif
It fits with lots of emotional times, once a nephew of mine (10 yrs) and I found out about something very sad, and he was staying at my place at the time. He plays guitar too so we put it on and both played and sang to it very loud 12 times in a row. It helped A LOT.
And we were able to be together with our emotions but without saying anything about them to each other, a moment I'll remember forever...

since my guitar skills aren't up to a level of emotional release yet i get in my truck and blast Killswitch, Atreyu or whatever hard heavy band seems to fit at the time and scream/sing along that usually helps me let it out

By the way sir, I like your Paul Gilbert signature pic.. I have seen a few other GMC'ers sporting it. I guess maybe I should go out and buy all his cd's and dvd's. Can you recommend an album to get me started?

Sure (I hope paul appreciates the GMC fanclubs hard work laugh.gif laugh.gif ). My favorite Paul albums are Get out of my Yard and Racer X's Technical Difficulties.

Space Ship Live is also awsome, the DVD is well worth getting.....
