Do you like your strings tighter or lose?
Maybe look into a 7-string pack something like a 9-52 and take out the 24. That way your g,b,e are still loose and then your E,a,d are still tight that when you go for Drop C that you aren't flubbing on the E. -------------------- Guitars:

I use D'addario 010 in my Gibson Les Paul and my Fernandes Monterrey. I find these ones good at a reasonable price.

Todd, I also use slinkys (although "regular" 10's instead of the "super" 9's). Every time I switch to another brand, they break too easily. So it's been slinkys only for years.
If your not certain on gauge, try to get more than one size pack so you can figure out what the best ones for you are. Nobody can tell you which gauge will work best for you sadly. You have to try several, and find out the old fashioned way. I settled on 9 Super Slinky packs after trying wads and wads of vendors and sizes. But every player is a bit different and some folks HATE 9 sets and HATE super slinky sets in general! So it's a personal thing you have to work through. But it's worth doing -------------------- Check out my awesome Nintendo Cover-band, EMULATOR!! http://www.reverbnation.com/emulator Now.....go practice!! |
