well, why would girls (or anybody that doesn't play guitar) be interested in something like metallica? why are we interested in metallica? the guitar! (if not that, i guess the "agressiveness" of the music, idk) if you don't play an insturment it'd be hard to relate to music that is all about technical playing. thus the creation of pop music, the genre of music anybody can "enjoy". you don't need to be a musician to appreciate it. not saying i like pop music, but that's just the way it is.

and acoustic stuff? well. it's soft sounding, i guess. and sweet lyrics smile.gif

What did you learn tonight?
while shouting so loud, you barely joyous, broken thing.
You are a voice that never sings, is what i say.
You are freezing over hell
You are bringing on that end you do so well
and you can only blame yourself, is what is say.

Hmm, I see what you mean. I can understand why a girl would rather listen to a soft acoustic song ( I wasn't tearing down accoustic at all, just emo and pop) than extremely heavy fast riffs. But I don't understand how a girl would rather watch you play some cheesy rock song with three chords over a beautiful guitar solo like Fade to Black (since we are talking about Metallica). But I guess it all just really depends on the girl smile.gif

Heh. I agree with most of what has been said in this thread smile.gif. Its really how you play/ the type of girl/ and the type of music the girl likes. Ive played a show where no one appreciated metal and therefore noone liked it, but at the gigs afterparty i was jammin on an accustic and the girls were diggin it cause i was playing chili peppers and stuff. At another instance i was playing accustic and no one was interested so i started jammin the Intro to Masters Apprentice by Opeth and sum girl was diggin it hardcore. I don't think the shred impresses the ladies as much as recognizable riffs and songs. and singing along with it makes it all the better smile.gif

Yeah. I'm attracted mostly to asian girls and unfortunately for me "Hi, I'm an engineer." will get them rockin your jock better than "Hi, I'm a guitarist/musician/artist".

I dont know what the deal is with chicks digging 3-chord acoustic songs or top-of-the-charts power chord shuffle stuff over intricate speed metal, but I think it has something to do with the way all women choose the "Elven Princess/Huntress/Ranger" as their first character in every roleplaying game and MMORPG. Cuz its pretty rolleyes.gif

So the fact that I play a mean guitar doesn't make me any more attractive? Thats fine. The fact that she can talk about literally nothing for like 4 hours straight without noticing that I havn't said a word doesn't make her any more attractive to me either; and that, like our guitar playing abilities, is a skill valued by her peers that the opposite sex will never understand/care about.

I find comfort in this statisitic....

The estimated total number of people living in the US with a viral STD/STI is over 65 million. [2] Every year, there are at least 19 million new cases of STDs/STIs, some of which are curable. [2,3]

I doubt it is any different in Europe.
