Hey guys,
I finally realized that I need a new amp...and I found one for well....isn't guitar stuff always a little more than you can actually afford Anyway, it's Marshall's MG100DFX....it's a 100 watt amp with one 12 in it. However, I could pay a little more and get Marshall's MG250DFX. It's also a 100 watt amp but with two 12's with 50 watts each. I went and tested the 100DFX and no joke..the tone was amazing...purely. I seriously had to unplug my distortion pedals since the overdrive and distortion on the amp was giving a better tone all around. So, if anyone had/has used this amp....please shine some light my way to which would be a better investment all-around. Thanks. MG 100 MG250 -------------------- |

I don't think the DFX range is good so I'd suggest you buy the cheaper one.

Which one are you talking about MickeM? They are both DFX's the 250 or the 100? Since you said that I should go for the cheaper one...I"m assuming you don't think that the 250 will give out as much as the 100. Understandable, do you have any knowledge on amps to help with you judgment? I will prob. go with the 100 but the 250 costs more..and even though price isn't everything...I was assuming it might be better for certain things. I"m assuming that you might get a bit more of a stereo effect and that's all. My answer was a bit on the ironic side, since I'm not fond of the DFX series (no matter the number of Watts) I suggested to go for the cheaper one to waste less money (on something bad) Of course this is just my opinion, in general I think Marshall come with good amps but there have been a few that don't masure up where the DFX series is one. What matters really is what you think, if you like the DFX you should go for it. If someone else, like myself, says they are bad it could just mean that I have bad taste or play amps that cost a fortune. (neither really apply to me but whatever) EDIT: And in general a 2x12" would be plenty nicer than a 1x12 This post has been edited by MickeM: Oct 27 2007, 09:48 PM -------------------- My bands homepage

I perfer tube amps alot more than solid state though. |

Ive tried out the Marshall AVT 50H. Solid state head but i guess they designed it as a tube sound. Pretty good IMO. Thinking of actually buying it. What do ou guys think bout it?

The AVT is an okay amp, but I think it's rather pricy every where outside the UK. -------------------- My bands homepage

You can do much better than an MG series for that kind of money. Get a good tube combo like a Peavey Valveking or a modelling amp, for example the Line6 Spider III.
