Hi Ben! This is our thread to explore, train and stimulate our creativity and composing abilities. I think that this thread mustn't be structured so feel free to do random chats, to post miscellaneous videos, photos, thoughts and feelings. We will work on theory stuff but mostly on real music. I think that it would be interesting to analyze some of your favorite music but in a modern way, writing down the most used concepts and ways to arrange.
At the same time, it would be cool to use this thread as a library of ideas, so let's feel free to record and post here riffs, licks, that can be continued by you and me at any moment. In the end, maybe we can have some songs composed together, who knows? I would like to know a bit more about you and your relation with composition. Feel free to write whatever comes to mind here. -------------------- My lessons

Hi Cael.
So let's build a first routine with some Muris lessons, as well as some tapping and arpeggios. Based on what you said, the topics should be Alternate Picking, Legato, Tapping and Arpeggios (Sweep Picking?). As you said that you had some problems working on long lessons, we don't see these lessons as the whole thing, we will see them as parts. The idea is that you work on 1 part of each lesson each day of the week. What about these two lessons? Alternate Picking & Legato: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/legato...cking_advanced/ Tapping: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Sigh-of-Pain/ About your style, consider yourself lucky that those styles are close. Imagine if you would like Indie, Extreme Metal, Alternative and Bosa. I'll give you a suggestion that has been given to me by my girlfriend. As you want to compose music in two different styles, create two folders in your "Compositions" section, one called "Djent" and the other called "Classic Progressive". So this won't prevent you from thinking all the time on what style you should do. Do both, the one that feels more inspiring each day, and save the songs and ideas. With the pass of time, this folders will be filled with songs, the one that has more songs, or better songs, is your more natural style. If both are great, release two albums! There are some bands that release double albums and each one has a different "syle" or "vibe". There is a local band that edited a double album, one has songs more connected to Metalcore, while the other is an Alternative Rock/Metal. The main goal of this is avoid blocks and keep making music. You'll learn a lot about making music, and yourself during the process. -------------------- My lessons
