Hi Gab,
deadline is near and here comes my take. Its really tricky to evolve a nice melody .The scale and arpeggio shapes are not in my fingers yet - I often have to think about it. Some more feedback: - practiced >1hr/day as I needed to read about theory and learn the scale and arpeggio shapes. I feel not 100% comfortable yet and would include a few minutes in the next part to better memorize what we learned on part 1. -was trying to include a larger part of the fretboard but found out that connecting the shapes when going up and down needs much more practice -my beginner playing skill were great obstacle for nice faster lines or up and down plays -was trying to include at least some phrasing like bends, slides, hammer on and vibrato -and last: I enjoyed this very much. Its a nice combination of learning some theory and applying it. https://soundcloud.com/user619267345/improassign1-12 |

Even with those things that you mark I have to say that you are doing an excellent work with this first week. You are playing tasty melodies while exploring the scales and arpeggios. I'm not expecting to hear flashy shredding solos on this. There is a lot to go be combining the notes to create nice phrases and using expressing techniques to make them sound even nicer. Keep on working like this. yes i note it, and this is a new take, with more breath and less notes https://soundcloud.com/maxime-bon-3/debut-pas-mal Laurent Hi Laurent, I feel that your real solo starts in the second half, and I don't really note the use of silences to let your phrasing breath. Do you think it's there? Some inspiration: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/The_tasty_etude/ Last take for the deadline : https://soundcloud.com/mathieu-nguyen-6/g-major-impro-v2 Thank you for your advices Tom51 and Gab ! Hi mate! Nice playing! I think that you solo evolves really well which shows that you are able to see your improvisation as a whole thing and as a song composer. The evolution is done by the quantity of notes of your phrasing but also with the addition of those nice harmonies in the end. I can also say that adding some silences here could let your phrasing breath a bit more, but the excellent work done with the evolution of your solo make it cool to hear. Keep on experimenting with this! wooo, nice one N3m57 !! another take, sorry no breath...... errors because i listen to me and i lost concentration.... https://soundcloud.com/maxime-bon-3/fin-pas-mal Laurent The second half of this solo! Starting at 00:30! That's the direction! Please keep on exploring with this kind of simple but catchy melodies! Please avoid fast melodies at this point, and remember more silences! Very nice mate! I enjoyed your phrasing on this one as well as your tone. Your playing is catchy and your phrasing keep on evolving and exploring different elements to keep in interesting. I consider that this take shows that you have a good knowledge of the scale and arpeggios so the next step would be to try this concepts over different major backing tracks and see what happens. You can use Youtube or GMC lessons for this and off course you can share your takes with us here. Hope you dont mind the youtube take, i found it difficult soloing over this one because I got bored easily and couldnt come up with much interesting things, i managed to throw in the Eric clapton quote in there haha. but i feel i was impatient and frustrated easily because im used to soloing over more modal , jazzy, or bluesy progressions. Hi mate! I like your playing over this one! This first assignment is designed to explore the concepts behind the caged system and arpeggios. The idea is to use it to learn the shapes, connect with the notes and also deleted those blind spots that we use to have in the fret-board. If you have all this things covered you can off course use some other backing tracks to create major melodies and phrasing and share them here to inspired other students... what do you think? -------------------- My lessons
