I just picked up a guitar 5 days ago (my dads old acuestic) and im progressing pretty good i think. I can play alot of simple intro's like nirvana, avenged sevenfold, metalica. I really want to get an electric becaus they are thinner and look way easier to play. I was just hoping some of you could give me an idea on some good guitars and a good amp. This is what i was planning for

Epiphone Les Paul

You can't really go wrong with that guitar.
As far as amps go, the Vox AD series are great.
The Vox AD30VT or even the 15 watt version would be fine, and they have built in effects.
Crate amps are good for playing metal.
Stay away from the Marshall MG series as they are overpriced for what you get.

Just my 2c.

Hey!! That guitar is great!! Epiphone is the best choice if you want a les paul guitar. I had one (also limited edition) and it's sound was great!

About amps: I agree spdalton.

That's really bizarre...a LP with a Floyd Rose? Yeah, it's Epiphone but still.

I started off with a Fender Strat Squier. Then, about a year later, I got a Vintage Les Paul. I have the 15watt Vox amp spdalton was talking about, and it is very good. Many amp settings and effects, and 2 programmable channels and all the EQ settings. Good amps smile.gif
