Put on some epic music like Nightwish, Blackmore's night or Rhapsody of Fire, close your eyes and imagine what they are singing about.

Then paint what you've just seen.

I know its too late to help with this project but if you want free software to create landscapes in 3d [and simple to use] you must download terragen; its great and you create the mountains, lakes, skies, etc yourself, then print out the results for copying into a painting. There is plenty of support so you will learn the program very quickly. Other users have free landscape materials [icy mountains, Martian land, grassy terrain, etc] that you can download too. Hope you give it a go. Google 'terragen'.
