this is such a great listen , Ozzy can't get the notes and making up words Ozzy was a great melody writer , But Bob Daisley wrote music and lyrics all through " No more tears " . One has to ask them self , why would they not continue with him just cause they did not want to pay him. The money they would have made with him , not to mention the music I think we all missed out on

Good question.
Musicians are some of the smartest people ... and some of the dumbest people I've ever met.

I don't know if you know , I don't think ozzy is your cup of tea . Daisley wrote music and lyrics for Diary of madman , Ozzy canded him , has rudy sarzo rerecord his bass and left him off credits , then brought him back for bark at the moon cause he could not find any one else to satisfy his self , told Bob he would be credited from now on , even though he wrote on every album up to no more tears . Ozzy toured with someone Sharon thought had a better look , and then stiffed him on money again . On the 30 anniversary release of "Blizzard of ozz", sharon had his bass rerecorded as to not pay him his full monies , He also denied the drummer on Blizzard and Diary (Lee Kerslake) his awards for those 2 until about 6 months before his death he finally git them

I'm sure you guys have heard the story of how DIO's wife made him dump the band that behind him that wrote his biggest songs, and turned him into a stadium act? They finally demanded to be paid, and she had them all fired. The following DIO album and all the rest, never again sold as many units or had the level of music/musicianship ever again. It's sadly quite common.

On Holy Diver for example, the band was paid less than the crew and had no royalty participation for the first 3 albums. On album 4 they insisted on royalties and they were all fired.

ozzy pulled the same stunt of course, or rather sharon did, when she insisted on re recording Blizzard of oz, with new musicians, instead of paying the drummer and bass player any royalties.

I'm not much of a modern metal guy but I like Sabbath and Ozzy (generally) and that corner of/genre of rock music. Because it's actual "songs", not just guitar riffs and fast solos. I knew the story regarding Daisley and writing credits. Ozzy is the dumb one.

If you haven't already, the Tony Iommi biography (Iron Man) is pretty good ... https://www.amazon.com/Iron-Man-Journey-thr...h/dp/0306821451

It's hard to say one is a Metal fan unless one appreciates Sabbath imho. Without them, music would be a lot different and a lot less Metal smile.gif

Yeah, Ozzy/Sharon should have just paid royalties, same way Dio and his wife should have. Sadly, folks can be pretty selfish en end up shooting themselves in the foot.

Thanks for the tip on the book!
