How Old Is Too Old?

I practice lesson 1 at least one hour a day and I think I am about half as fast as you. At the age of 50...Is it too late for me to expect to ever get that fast? I'm getting cleaner and faster depending on what I'm working on. I practice 1 1/2 to 2 hours per day and get real results. To play like Muris may be asking too much for some of us mere mortals. Muris is unusually quick and clean. I can approach his speed in some areas, but it will take more time and work to play alot of his stuff at speed. Continue to practice with or without a metronome. Sometimes you must play as fast as you can, even if it's a bit sloppy, just to get your hands used to higher speeds. After doing this for awhile, slow back down some and play cleanly. You will find that your speed will increase over time doing this and working with a metronome. Oops! I just realized that I answered one of Muris questions. Sorry, guys! Thanks for all the reply's everyone. And Frank...your suggestions jive with what I have been doing, so it's nice to know I'm on the right track. Even if I never hit Muris' speed. I can't tell exactly how long it's gonna take to play this lessons at full speed but I advise you not to think too much about that either. Music is art,playing guitar is execution of the art, art should be pleasure,not 100m sprint. You do need to look for results but not against yourself, always be sure that you're enjoying your practicing,no frustrations. And if you're in good mood when practicing(with proper doze of motivation as well) then the result is just around the corner and you'll be very surprised once you face it, in a good way of course.
