As many guitar players do I'm sure, sometimes I don't pay attention to the theory and just improvise, never was unhappy with anything I've recorded since I only record what sounds good to me, but still I have tons of riffs but no complete song made, and I think that happens because (and here comes my weakest guitar technique, so to speak) I don't know nothing about keys and I only know basic chords and some more, don't know why things are named major and minor because it's not the way my country teaches it :/. I was wondering if there's any pointers people could give me because I feel kinda bad already playing intermediate songs, having decent techniques but knowing nothing about this laugh.gif

Thanks
Filipe

I'd say, follow this link and work through the list at whatever pace you're comfortable with:

Thats got enough to get you really competent theory-wise.

Hmm...well my sugeestion would be to ask specific questions about theory when you get them.

I must have nagged Andrew everyday about theory before it all started settling in. So yeh there's plenty of people here who can answer your theory questions and thats a good way to make sure there are no gaps in what you have learned.

So work through the list- and as soon as a question comes up - or you start getting a bit lost- drop a question as a comment.
