Studio Computer?

'Ello, I am currently in the process of maybe starting to build my own little studio, but I want to make my PC really great for it. So I was wondering what are the things I need to focus on? I will get an SSD sooner or later, but besides that what really matters in a PC to make it great for studio use?

If you're willing to go with a Mac, a Mac Mini is $600 and almost EXACTLY the same specs as an iMac. I use one for recording and haven't had any issues except with RAM (But I only have 1GB, though you can have up to 8GB in the Mac Mini).

It always come back to the money smile.gif The good news is, for home use, there are plenty of options that will let you get decent results for your home studio and allow you to learn as you go. Everyone has a fav, and most folks have some brands they hate. As with guitars, there are lots of choices and reasons why. But to keep things within a budget, you might look at these

1.)Rockit powered 6
2.)Adam 5
3.)Tannoy reveal
4.)alesis active mkII

none are high end and all of them really need to be paired with a MATCHED (same brand) subwoofer but you can get that later smile.gif

CRITICAL POINT FROM TONI

AVOID YOUR MARRANTZ AMP if possible. Get "ACTIVE" eg. powered monitors. That way the amp is built in smile.gif
