Are Line 6 Amps Bad?

Oct 18 2007, 01:49 AM	GMC:er Posts: 2 Joined: 28-August 07	I recently bought the RP250 multi effects pedal from Digitech and tried to hook it up with my Line 6 Spider II 30Watt amp, as per Digitech's instructions. All I can say is that the tone I got was far from being anywhere similar to the one produced on Digitech's site. In fact, after setting the Line 6 amp on the Clean Channel, turning every EQ setting to 0 and gradually increasing both the amp's and the fx pedal's volumes to a playing-without the neighbors calling the cops-level, I discovered that there was an inherent delay caused by the Spider's clean channel. And shortly after playing each note, the sound quickly faded. I tried the pedal board on my practice amp a Marshall MS-2C and was amazed to find out that there was nothing wrong with the RP250. Does anyone know a way around this problem? So maybe your amp isn't the problem... As the owner of a flextone I can tell you its pretty good quality, not the best, but it does the job. Spiders however are pretty poor pieces of kit IMO. Most amps in the 50-150w range are going to be way more loud than you need. Especially if they're tube amps. If I'm right you probably didn't turn it up too loud, so you didnt really hear how a lot of the amps sound. The spiders are good for low volume, but they never really get past that kind of muddy tone. Amps clear up and sing when you turn them up more. And you're missing out on a lot of GREAT amps in the under 50w range. Just because it says 50w, does't mean its twice as loud as a 25w. It was about noon and they were cool with me taking my top 5 amp choices in there and I turned about to 7 or 8 and still chose this one. I like them.
