Are Line 6 Amps Bad?

I recently bought the RP250 multi effects pedal from Digitech and tried to hook it up with my Line 6 Spider II 30Watt amp, as per Digitech's instructions. All I can say is that the tone I got was far from being anywhere similar to the one produced on Digitech's site. In fact, after setting the Line 6 amp on the Clean Channel, turning every EQ setting to 0 and gradually increasing both the amp's and the fx pedal's volumes to a playing-without the neighbors calling the cops-level, I discovered that there was an inherent delay caused by the Spider's clean channel. And shortly after playing each note, the sound quickly faded. I tried the pedal board on my practice amp a Marshall MS-2C and was amazed to find out that there was nothing wrong with the RP250. Does anyone know a way around this problem?
After using the Spider amp for the past 2 years I would hate to think that I made a bad choice worth 260 Euros.

Well, I had the RP250 and I changed it to a POD XT.
I didn't like the sound of the RP250, very "mushy", no definition at all.

So maybe your amp isn't the problem... If you kknow someone with a POD, you can compare them and see what is the problem, the amp or the RP250

I think the Line6 Spider amps are redicilous. Line6 got lots of other great stuff though.

The more expensive line 6 amps are better. As the owner of a flextone I can tell you its pretty good quality, not the best, but it does the job.

Spiders however are pretty poor pieces of kit IMO.

Uh, for that price you could look at the Spider Valve which should stomp a mudhole into the spider III...

They arent bad, they come with built in effects which is cool, but deffinitely not the greatest.

I honestly went to Guitar Center and just tried out every amp that went from 50W to 150W and tried them out no matter what price and I liked the Spiders call me a cheap date or what ever I liked them. I did the same thing with guitars and ended up with a Jackson Dinky.

Uhm, well I have only one thing to say to that. When you tried the amps, how high did you turn them up? Most amps in the 50-150w range are going to be way more loud than you need. Especially if they're tube amps. If I'm right you probably didn't turn it up too loud, so you didnt really hear how a lot of the amps sound. The spiders are good for low volume, but they never really get past that kind of muddy tone. Amps clear up and sing when you turn them up more. And you're missing out on a lot of GREAT amps in the under 50w range. Just because it says 50w, does't mean its twice as loud as a 25w. In fact I think the 25w is pretty close to just as loud, not sure on the exact numbers though.

sorry if you already knew most of that laugh.gif

I did give them some volume due to my Guitar Center (possibly all do I don't know) having a sound proof room thats pretty good sized. It was about noon and they were cool with me taking my top 5 amp choices in there and I turned about to 7 or 8 and still chose this one. I like them.

I'd like to refer to the old saying, "Variety is the spice of life" what works for some people, doesn't work with others, I personally like the Spider III, but occasionally, I do get annoyed about, how the clean channels sound weak, but I've hadn't had other problems with it, problably because I don't use pedals.

Yea if everyone only like Gibson Les Pauls how boring would that be?
