Hey GMC'ers, i had an idea for a collaboration after watching a few guitar duels from G3 DVD's, and i would just start one, except i dont think i could mix and master the tracks, so maybe someone else who could would want to start it.

Anyway, the idea is 'let loose!', play whatever!

Most of the collabs are usually in a certain key, but i was thinking of something like a giant duel or trade-offs, no key or anything for anyone to worry about. Probably just a cool repeating drum track which we could all just play whatever the heck you want over it.

It would be kinda similar to the guitar duels bands play live, where the drummer is just doing a simple groove, and there guitarists do trade-offs. That, but with GMC Behind the guitar!

Anyone else wanna try?

Yea, sounds cool but make sure not to have the solos coming one after the other. If there is no key someone might choose to end and vibrato on E, and if someone begins on a slow F, thats gonna be minor 2nd which sounds like total crap EVERY time.

EDIT: For something like this, phrasing wouldn't really matter since there is no key. It would probably come down to who can sweep tap the fastest, which is always fun for me, probably one of the only collaborations I can actually participate in since my soloing sucks bad.

I dont mean the fastest or anything, hell, if you wanted, we could have this idea but with a "Mellow/ Slow" theme. I Guess a Key would ultimately be needed.

Nice idea but I think there should be some key as reference tho,
even when only drummer is playing and guitarists are jamming over it
there is still some key involved, usually from the part/tune before. smile.gif

No need to have bass of anything "tonal" in backing
but just to have some guide about key, that's all.
