Introduction of yourself?
My name is Amol and I'm currently a student
How long have you been playing?
I've been playing for 4 years now
What are your strong points and what you feel you know now?
I can improvise over most diatonic songs without any difficulties, I have a basic handle on most techniques, and I know enough theory to fake my way through most situations.
What your weak points are or you would like to learn?
I have to build a repertoire, and by that I mean have a library of songs that I can play from beginning to end in a complete run. To achieve this goal without consolidating guitar parts into one I know I have to record multiple tracks and I am willing to do this, but this is where I am stuck right now. I have trouble reading complicated rhythms and reading music is general is a very slow process for me.
Do you currently have a pracitice routine? If so, please describe it briefly.
My practice entails ear training, in which I learn melodies and chord progressions from songs that I enjoy by ear. Also I have melodic soloing training where I play a chord progression and practice following the chords. Other than that I also practice learning songs from sheet music or tab. As for technical practice I have not stopped but have considerably cut back on practicing scales and arpeggios, sweep picking. I still practice controlling my vibrato, and also bending from odd note choices to the target note I want.
How much time you have to dedicate to the MTP program?
I have other commitments to exams and work I must do for school, but otherwise will invest enough to get the job done.
Do you have a video or web camera currently?
Yes.
What kind of music are you into?
My main influence is metal, and more particularly Megadeth. When not listening to metal I enjoy rock ballads, particularly Marty Friedman's playing style. Though I also like various other styles of music including jazz, and classical, but I mainly enjoy listening to more guitar oriented music. Another artist I really admire is Kiko Loureiro. I also like acoustic fingerstyle music, but I have not had much time to study that.
What lessons have you already completed or are working on?
I have only worked on one lesson really, since I am fairly new here, and that was the John Petrucci Melodic soloing lesson.
