Listening the album now, very good musically but unfortunately a good example on how a bad mix can ruin everything sad.gif

Someone asked why the kick and snares sound was the same biggrin.gif Youtube is the worst, Spotify was a tiny bit better, they say the cd sounds best but still drums sounding problematic.

I couldn't bear to listen in one go but the album is quite good with really good solos, maybe I could go with that torture once but can't see myself listening over and over again.

Wow thats just AWFUL imho. I can't believe it doesn't sound any better than that? I could have done a better job on that myself!!!! Wow. That's truly dissapointing and her guitar tone is not good sad.gif Dull and no bit/clarity/pick attack.

I had to fix it myself!!! I just could not let it be that bad. I know one isn't supposed to tweak from a compressed source. Still, I gave it a bit of "mastering" sauce and I gotta say it sounds a heck of a lot better to my ears. what do you guys think?

Cool but I should warn you might get a penalty for that, maybe a non-visual or soundcloud upload would be safer.

I went back and did it again as I still could not hear her lead guitar bits. It unbalanced the mix but at least I can hear the lead bits and it's got wads more aggression. The original mix is just so flat and dead? Can you hear the difference in mine?

TWEAKED VERSION smile.gif

They just flag the vid and give her any money from ads that run on it so it's fine smile.gif

Here is the only "penalty" an email from youtube.---

Since most of the problematic content is in the mono signal, its harder to clear but the worst is the limiting. Once a song is compressed by a final limiter everything gets super glued-in and an approach which normally would work cannot (a fix leads to a different problem), so its a losing battle. It frequently happens to ME's when a client sends a mix with a final limiter, then there's so little left what a ME can do so they request a proper mix.

I actually realized this is also a good example of how bad loud mastering can be. Did you try downloading audio from spotify or itunes? I read its better cause of less clip/limiting (I'd try itunes first).

Everywhere I found it for free (not going to pay for a track I don't want) sounded this bad. Yeah, the glue is already there and you can barely hear the lead part which is the entire point of the song. All I was able to do was give it a little more space and a little more aggression.
