hi im gonna get one of the dimarzio soap bars but i am not sure which one to get unsure.gif
paul gilbert uses super distortion (the original one of course) and it has great rock n roll sound
but i dont know what the tone zone sounds like but it gives the impression of lovely tone like steve vai's tone which i also love
anyone know any details on these pickups?

PG uses the TZ as well. I've heard that it's a real love/hate pu.
For a long time, I've had serious GAS for an RG8470 wich has the ToneZone in it.

I really don't know anything about soapbar pickups, but if they sound anything like the humbucker versions I would go with the Super Distortions, just as a personal preferance. They are voiced similarly, with lots of mids and bass, but the SD has noticably more output. Neither of them are good very good for down tuning, because they have so much mids and bass things can get very muddy if you detune your guitar. But they will both sound great in a standard tuned guitar.

My 2 cents.
