I need to get tight on these tunes before a gig, but if it's 1 month prior, I don't feel like hitting the tunes/set that often. So, in the weeks prior is when I really tighten it up.
Of course, I play the entire set through several times, to ensure that I'm solid on EVERY change. But, I also put a special focus into certain difficult parts and turn that into it's own practice routine, and shown below. I posted the link correctly, but the vid isn't showing up on my end. Here's the direct link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOuYebFXWLA...eature=youtu.be This post has been edited by derper: May 18 2012, 01:19 AM -------------------- Check out my awesome Nintendo Cover-band, EMULATOR!! http://www.reverbnation.com/emulator Now.....go practice!! |

16th notes at 155-160bpm is challenging enough, let alone on a baritone!
That's a good thing man! I always have some song bits which can make up good practicing exercises if you isolate them and work your way up on speed and dexterity. For instance there's this lick which proves to be a big pain on the thick strings of my baritone: E ---0--------------------------0-- A ------6--5--3--6--5--3--5--0-- the A is the thickest string on the baritone these are 16th notes played at about 160 or 155 BPM and I use this lick as an exercise almost all the time -------------------- Check out my awesome Nintendo Cover-band, EMULATOR!! http://www.reverbnation.com/emulator Now.....go practice!! |
