Hmm, does this happens on this guitar only?
I've seen couple of guitar players with just more acid in their sweat, which is perfectly natural, but just makes strings and finish wear out and oxidize faster. Anyway, it this is not your problem, perhaps it's just the usual grease adding up. Try to wipe the guitar with a damp wet cloth every time you put it back to stand. Don't use dry cloth, just dump it slightly in plain water. Not sure about polishers tho, never used them. I always found water cloth work good with any guitar I took in my hands. -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

For polishing I use Dunlop Formula 65 Polish and Cleaner, but only for lacquered parts, for a fingerboard try Fingerboard cleaner..

For nitro finishes, don't use any polish that contains silicon. There are special polishes and cleaners just for nitro finishes. This is just one available at StewMac.com Look around and see what else you can find there, I'm sure you'll find something that suits your needs.
