Strange that this topic should come up, since I had a weird experience along these lines the other day. My dad was running a skill saw out in the yard, cutting up paneling for a room we are re-paneling. I have grown up around the noise of skill saws and drills, since my dad is a carpenter and the noise never really bothered me before. Lately however, it seems that when he runs that saw there is this extremely high pitched squeal that I never noticed before, but drives me nuts now. Its really interesting to me because I have really been focusing on ear training lately and learning to hear the notes and intervals and identify what they are, and I wonder if because of this my ears have grown more sensitive to other noise as well?
