Here is the God of all Social Media, Ola Englund himself. Playing a FEARED song in his kitchen, with his wife at the table, while he is doing a bit of domestic work. He says that he really doesn't want to tour much and would rather just stay at home with his family. Is this what "Metal" has become? Notice he is using his phone to control his tone settings as the vid starts. He is full on wearing his cooking apron. It's a strange dichotomy to see his undead pope album cover and then watch him in his spotless kitchen playing metal wearing his cooking dress. Still I think he is a brilliant man who has created a career for himself through social media and is now the master of a media empire that includes his own guitar line which is selling like hot cakes. Our own found has one of his instruments. What do you think? Has metal been domesticated?

If you count Sabbath's debut in 1969 as 'metal', then metal has been around 51 years. So yeah, I'd say it's domesticated.

Great 😂

Metal looses the crowd. Its a normal development. Nobody can listen to songs they runs at least 8 min until 24 min eg dream theater. Nobody can listen to songs with more than 3 chords😂. The crowd is in a big mood to extremely quantity music. Cant listen to a song 3 times. I remember that I listened to songs and just to a song this 6months and more. Times changing. Perhaps with those guys metal becomes more atractive to conservative people.

At this point, the musical lexicon of "Metal" is pretty well defined. So yeah, it's got entire genres that are considered 'Traditional" and the more extreme versions of metal are the most traditional imho and the least flexibie, e.g. Black Metal. So in that way it's sorta like an old grumpy guy who doesn't want to change!

There are some great German Metal Bands for sure!! Metal has gone back underground which is where it really belongs imho. It's not a "mainstream" art form imho. I was never happy to see Metal going "Commercial" when it did, but I"m glad that Metal is Eternal and that it's still with us and I think it always will be..

If you think the German scene is bad, try the American Metal scene. We barely have one. Most of the bands are forced to tour in europe as it's very hard to put together a tour here that makes any money. The gaurantees for the bands, evven big bands, are quite low. So they end up going to Europe and playing big festivals just to make a bit of money. Our radio stations seem to avoid anything with a guitar in it. Don't get me wrong, we have some GREAT metal bands here. They are just very under appreciated.
We have one venue here in Atlanta where Metal bands are allowed to play. It's called the MASQUERADE and it's a bit of a dump. Unless Metallica comes through and plays a stadium, every band is forced to play the masquerade and it's being sold now and turned in to fancy condo apartments.

Same thing here in germany 😂. They tour through scandinavia poland and czech. There are the best metal scenes and festivals of the whole world.

And the heaviest guitar riff they play here in radio is „tnt“ 🤣
Followed by summer of 69 and hotel california
