And also have been practising the palm muting lesson. When I was watching this recording, I notice I pull my strings down a little bit. It's not something you see when you're playing. So I have to keep that in mind.

Thanks already for the feedback...

Have a good day!

Hi Gert!

Yes, watching our recordings, we can spot mistakes and we can fix them. Congrats on the fact that you have noticed the pull strings down issue. smile.gif
Attention to detail is the key to success.

Now about your take. Judging after the fact that you studied this lesson for only one week, I can say that it sounds nice. smile.gif

I like that you have that obvious difference between the parts with and without palm muting. There are some moments where you lose the palm muting but this will be fixed with more practice. You are on the right track.

See, it's not so hard. The whole idea of palm muting is to find the sweet spot where you have a lot of percussive sound, short sustain but you can still define the notes you are playing.

Always do experiments to be sure that you have found the sweet spot. It's easy, nothing hard. While strumming, slowly move your hand position away from the bridge and towards the neck of the guitar. You will notice that the sound will change drastically and more muting will be applied. Keep in mind that more muting means also losing the sound and sustain in the notes. We don't want this.
We need to find the perfect balance because this is what defines the sweet spot.

Also, the hand pressure on the strings matter. Once you have discovered the sweet spot, try to increase or decrease the pressure of your hand on the strings and search for another perfect spot.

Keep up your awesome work! I'm very proud of you! smile.gif

I think this one is better...

Tomorrow I will work on the original speed and load it up into REC for evaluation.

Yes, the pull strings down issue is fixed. Congrats!
Be careful at the palm muting parts, because in this take it doesn't sound so good. The notes have much more sustain than they should. You need to get that percussive sound. Search for the sweet spot.

Gert, to be honest, to make this sound good at the original tempo, first you should play this perfectly at this slow speed. Don't hurry and try to achieve a perfect palm muting sound because it will help us for the next lessons.

I found a way to connect my amp to my computer and made this recording trough Garageband! So I proudly present my first recording through a DAW biggrin.gif

Little struggle with syncing the video I made with my iPhone but this should go faster after a couple of times.

I think I found the 'sweet' spot on my guitar for palm muting. Although still not perfect but I think an improvement compared with the last one...

And here's the link from Youtube as you explained biggrin.gif

Hi Gert!

Congrats on the new steps you have made. Your first recording through a DAW sounds awesome! smile.gif

If I compare your new take with the previous one, I can say that it's like a day and night difference. The improvements are huge and yes, you almost found the perfect sweet spot.
See...it wasn't hard, all you needed was just a tiny movement of the hand to the left. Now you can also try to add some of the "wrist weight" to the picking (when you strum). This will help you get a "meaner" tone.

One more thing, be careful when you switch the chords to move your left hand at the last moment. The purpose is to avoid having tiny pauses between chords. All the strums should sound equal.

You are doing a great job! Keep on rocking! smile.gif
