Nice ! What guitar does Marty play? It is an Ibanez Marty Friedman model. Not availible in the US, because Marty is BIG in Japan, not so much in the states. I do know of a limted run that will be availible in the US...here---> DrumCity According to Marty they are more versatile than his old Jackson Kellys. They are made out of mahogany(body and neck), and have a rosewood fretboard. All of those give a very organic, warm tone. His old Jacksons had an alder or poplar body(not sure witch, doesn't matter much, they sound similar), with a maple neck(w/neck through construction), and an ebony fretboard. Maple and Ebony are very bright sounding woods, and alder and poplar have a very balanced tone. But overall it a pretty bright, snappy sounding guitar, that cuts throught the mix very well. That makes them great sounding metal guitars with lots of cut and definition, but the alder body gives the sound some girth. BUT since it is pretty bright it can sound brittle and clangy on the high strings when played with distortion. You know what I'm talking about, if you mess up on a high pitched lick you'll get a clangy metallic mess. But even if you don't mess up it might sound a bit harsh. But warm pickups would fix that problem easy. hmm....why did I write all that? -------------------- |

This is from the Scenes album, and this song has my favorite solo by Friedman I've ever heard. But check out another recording of the solo in Guitars Suck 6 at 8:08.
