Anybody Try D.allen Pickups?

Apr 3 2011, 05:37 PM	Learning Apprentice Player Posts: 1.750 Joined: 6-May 10 From: Charlotte, NC (residence)/Boston, MA (home) USA	My trusty Peavey Predator has just been sold to make way for the Fender Highway One thats taking its place, unfortunately can't afford to keep that many guitars. The Peavey actually sounded really good, but it did have a few issues that I wasn't happy about. The medium sized frets and glossy fretboard made it somewhat difficult to play. The other issue was the low E string didn't resonate fully, and this may be due to the fact that the trem hole was expanded to fit the enormous steel block that replaced the stock one. After the hole size was increased ( I know what some of your dirty minds are thinking... yes you Ben ) the area of the body that contacted the bridge plate was significantly reduced. I suspect this is the reason, can't really say for sure. So if any of you are planning on doing a similar mod, you may want to consider other options, like finding a steel block that isn't so big. Anyways, enough of that, back to the Highway One. The pickups in it now are good, but not stratty enough, if you know what I mean, so I've been looking at some replacements. I really liked the Tonerider City Limits in the Peavey, and was considering going with their Pure Vintage set, but was also looking at the D.Allen TruVintage 54 set. They've been getting some rave reviews, and won't break the bank either. So, does anybody have any experience with them? Or recommend any other Strat pickup?
