Sweeping

How long did it take you to get sweeping down packed? because my 5 string sweeps are ok but its hard for my hand to keep up with my picking hand and then i slow down n practice and then i get bored. my 3 string sweep is getting better its just that my picking hand does seem to like the 3 string sweep motion.
