Try to get to a shop and try as many as you can, buying without trying is a risk, though a LP Studio is widely known to be great, so you will probably love it.

But better try it first!, you never know... each guitar has a "soul", no guitar sounds exactly the same even if they are the same brand and model!

Personally speaking, I think Gibsons are slightly overpriced and their quality control isn't the greatest. That said, their faded series are are really good for metal. I've got a Faded SG and have just sold a Faded Flying V. Both are/were great guitars but they were bought second-hand so were cheaper.
I would also check out the higher spec. Schecters, Paul Reed Smith and also ESP who all do some quality guitars.

Yes, a Gibson is iconically awesome!
I never cared for the looks of an Ibanez.

Until I got one! laugh.gif
Now I almost think it's a beauty!

Seriously.
If you love the guitar: playability, feel and sound.
What else is there? biggrin.gif

I would grab that guitar, right now, right here.
If that Ibanez was begging you to play, play! wink.gif

And get a Gibson later on when I have enough money to spend.

And a Strat..

And a Paul Reed..

tongue.gif

Whatever you choose, remember:

The most important thing is that you love the feel, playability and sound.

That's what matters. smile.gif

If you like that particular model, because it's more rounded than the RG, but want a tremolo as well, be sure to check out S2170 as well!
Or maybe the SA and SV models?

yeah
i just wrote to the guy at the capital city store and asked him to send me the guitar
lets hope that he hasnt sold it jet.
and about tremolo its cool but i think its not that important
i never use it on my squier (it might be becouse it doenst work or becouse i dont know how to use it,or both tongue.gif )
next time it will be a les paul
thanks a lot jacmoe

I have the exact same guitar as you, and I was in the same dillema until last week. Go with the Studio. I tried every guitar under 1500 dollars at the guitar center and it was the best. Period. Beat every other brand, and even some of gibsons other guitars. But thats totally my opinion. Just find an afternoon to devote to it and spend all day in the guitar shop, trying out every guitar you see. You'll know what you like best very quickly.

PS try mixing up the amp you try it with too. You can mistake a crummy amp for crummy pickups if you arent using a good one.

I spelled my username wrong...I didn't even think that was possible!

Look at the topic for my guitar...
Finished Guitar Build

Gear:
Homemade strat (You still need to look at its topic!)
Squier strat (probably going to get rid of it and get another guitar instead) :)
Line 6 spider amp (not actually used for anything, just acts as a speaker)
Digitech Gnx2 (kind of old, but cheap, and sounds amazing!)

I have to admit that I'm rarely using mine.. And you get more sustain and an easier time trying out different tuinings. smile.gif

quality control? can I say bull crap on this forum? at least not with the 4 new and 1 used gibsons I have bought. And my experiences calling their support in Nashville have been top notch.

And they do have a life warranty. Not all brands do, e.g. Ibanez.

Do not listen to those Gibson-freaks! laugh.gif

A Gibson is an investment, and you definately need to try out several different ones.
Because you don't know what kind of neck you like.

Anyway, looking forward to hearing how you like your new guitar when it arrives! smile.gif

IMO, I owned a couple of Les Pauls and a few Fenders and I loved them however, to me the Les paul was just missing something... I would pull out the pick ups and replace the and then they would sound great. (I just really liked the body never the pickups)... One day I picked up some PRS guitars and wow.... I fell over heels on them.. I pulled out my CC and did not even think twice!! My PRS Mira is my baby and I would never sell her in my life time... My advice is next time you go down to your local music shop just play all the guitars for about 5 mins apart and one day you will find that lucky one that fits your style and feel.
