So I`m sitting here at work bored outa my brain and wondering what others do for a living.
I`m a Depot Manager for an independent Fuel distributor here in the UK (www.fueloils.co.uk) , I`m also qualified in Occupational Health & Safety so look after the company as a whole for that. Its a company started over 40 years ago and still looked after like a baby by my father-in-law, it may seem like nepotism but I`ve worked here for nearly 7 years doing pretty much the same job and met my wife obviously through work about 4 years ago so thats not how I got to work here, believe me its not really a perk having your father-in-law as your boss!
So really all I do is take orders over the phone from customers, route the lorries that are based here and generally am a sounding board for everyones moans and groans, the depot really runs itself so I dont have to do a great deal of "managing", the depot where I work is just a very small satellite operation from the main head office, the other part of my job involves visiting delivery locations to check drivers safety issues etc and general reporting (lots of paperwork
) I quite enjoy the visiting part although some people arnt exactly thrilled to see me when they know they have a site that breaks every regulation in the book and I`m about to cut off their supply.
So thats my job, its not exactly what I would like to be doing but it pays the bills/mortgage etc
What do you guys do for a living?, I know lots of you are at college and university too so what are you studying?
