I would strongly suggest you to try-out the V-Picks (www.v-picks.com) as well. They are much thicker (2.75mm), but they play smoother and better for all my shred work than compared to any other picks I used before.

What kind of wear do you mean? My Big stubbies (dunlop, 2mm) get worn in about a week - the point starts to be scratchy if you slip it with fingers.
What I do is, that I just grab a sanding paper and brush them a bit and they are as new again -------------------- my youtube account with riffs and ideas: https://www.youtube.com/user/Phoenygzus
