I have often heard guitar students talk about having very little confidence in their playing and no confidence at all in their music writing. As a result, they don't play in front of people and can sometimes barely play in front of a camera due to 'red light syndrome". This is crippling of course. However, these players are not alone. Even players at the top of the game like Joe Bonamassa have these same feelings and thoughts. The only difference is that he pushes ahead despite these things. That is often the critical issue. Learning to push through the self doubt and fear that cripples self expression by forcing us to isolate our musical expression. It's that same fear that causes 'red light syndrome". I found this article where he talks about it and it made a lost of sense. Does anyone relate?

Every pro I know, at times "feels like a fraud" (imposter syndrome). Some won't admit it publicly but in quiet and "safe" conversation - they do.
I do ... all the time.
Totally normal.
