Hey everyone. As many or most of you may know, I am a total Dave Mustaine fanboy and love V guitars. I own a Jackson King V Pro and a newly acquired ESP E-II Arrow 7 string (which is mostly used as a 6 string).

I've been GAS-ing for a KV1 ever since I saw it and was attracted to it's uniqueness. It's hardware is quite unique. Finally, after 6 years, I have the finances to buy one. But, they are quite rare, and the version I want with the LSR tuners is even rarer. I found this one in Italy. But, it's condition is not so good. And the price is, OK to say the best. Here are many pictures of the guitar. It's a fixed Kahler Bridge (3310 APM) and locking LSR tuners. The fine tuner of the high string seems to be at a very weird angle, and the nut of the guitar seems weird too. Something is just not right. The price I am getting is 1500 euros, and the sell mint for $2500-3000, which is around 2500-2800 Euros. I'd just like your thoughts and comments and discuss further. I have been wanting this guitar for ages, but, given the price for a mint condition guitar (if it does pop up, they've been coming up for sale less often with each year that has passed by) it seems to be a good price but there are some things really wrong with the guitar. So, help me out.









Also, what strap buttons are these? Schallers?

I'm not sure if there's anything wrong with the nut, either its simply dirty or it may have been removed and glued back for better height adjustment. The nut seems stock as far as I see when compared on google images.

As for the bridge, its been ages since I used a kahler but again from google searches as far as I understand its normal. Although a Floyd fine-adjustment screw simply goes down, with Kahler the screw moves to the body to create string tension. But I'm not 100% sure about this, wait for some more replys.

What I'd like to mention is no matter the condition such guitars always carries risks. There is a reason Kahler lost the battle with floydrose, also make sure LSR tuner brand is still active...so I hope you're considering this guitar more of a collectible rather than a work horse.

Thanks for the reply. I hope what you're saying is correct, and the nut is fine. If not, getting it replaced might be a hassle.

As for the bridge, this Kahler isn't a trem, it's a fixed bridge. And, LSR went out of business back in 1999-2000. From what I've heard on the JCF Forum, they're great tuners.

And, I am getting this to be a player, not for collection purposes. I will keep looking for a KV1 in better condition so that a few years down the line, so, if something with this one isn't perfect, it can be my kinda a little project-ish thing while the other be the main one. I love how the KV1s sound.

For the nut, a decent luthier would take measures and adjust a new nut if needed. I wouldn't be too worried about that, placing something like a graphtec will probably provide even improved stability.

LSR being gone is bad, this means you won't find replacement parts easily (if ever). As for Kahler, its still around but finding individual bridge parts might be a problem too if needed. I mention these facts cause you will eventually need parts specially if that guitar will be played often so be aware what you'll be getting into might become very frustrating in the future (happened to my cousin who had a rare Yamaha, didn't end well for him).

The fine tuners look like they may be stripped out as they are at different angles in the pic I don't know why he choose those cylinder looking tuners for this guitar but to each his own This one has some miles on it. The pickup poles have started to rust and the binding is starting to turn yellow. If buying this one will prevent you from buying a nicer one, I'd say just skip
this one and keep looking.
