I must admit I'm not a fan of Justin Bieber, I've only heard one song of his and didn't care for it at all. I don't have cable nor do I keep up with pop music that much, so I don't really know how saturated the market is with his music. I take it he's quite popular at the moment, mostly with the teenage crowd. That would explain why teenage metalheads have a certain disdain for him - typical teen bull malarkey.
What I don't get is why grown adults get their panties in a bunch over his music. What is it about him that aggravates all you haters? I think jealousy has something to do with it. "He's got no talent, anyone can do what he does..." is what I commonly hear. I don't think so. He's got charisma and thats what the record label is marketing, and to be a diva does take talent. You may not like his prefabricated music nor his charisma, but there are millions of teenage girls that do.
There are better singers out there, that have a better voice and sing with more emotion, but he's the one that actually made it. Its unfortunate for all the good singers out there but thats the way it works sometimes. I'm sure he has worked hard to achieve what he has achieved.
If you're a professional musician you have to play music people want to hear, you can't hate them if they don't like what you like. (By the way, off topic, I can't stand all the rap I'm forced to listen to when I go out) Of course defining what is good music is another topic altogether, we won't get into that here at the moment.
This guy articulates very well a sentiment I've had for a long time.
