What Time Is It?

Ben states: "The lesson uses 3 different time signatures - 4/4, 6/8 & 2/4." My question for you is, do you find it difficult to adjust to the different time signatures? I find odd grooves actually pretty simple to adjust to (could be because I've listened a lot to bands such as Tool), but of course some of them get way over my head too. The easiest way for me to adjust to odd time signatures is to count the beat: "one, two, three, four, one- wait, one, two, three, four, five, one, two, three four, five - that's it!" When you can count the beat, you know you're there. Tapping with your foot, stuff like that also helps. Of course odd grooves are harder if you don't have a good sense of rhythm in the first place. If they are too tough, I recommend going through some basic rhythm stuff first, to get the feel for triplets and stuff like that. The rest'll fall in place with practice. So listening and tapping along is the first step.
