> Rules

Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hi Gert!

The good thing is that, with each day of practice, you improve the position of your hands.

Unfortunately, this take doesn't sound good because you make two mistakes that make you sound out of tune.
1. You apply too much pressure on your left fingers when you press the strings.
2. When you play on E lower string you tend to pull down the string.

When you practice, be very careful at your left hand and try to fix these two issues. They are very important and affect the overall performance.

For this recording you get a 6 from me.

Keep on practicing!

Cool! And it's awesome to know that you love the lesson biggrin.gif

I agree with Monica that the issue here as well is the excessive tension in your fretting hand causing the notes to go out of tune.

I also note you were a bit more relaxed in your previous take. I think you are ready to move on!

You are making great progress!!! There is a bit too much pressure on your fretting hand but this is very common when learning to play. Eventually, your hands will learn the minimum amount of pressure required. one handy trick for working on this is the "thumbless technique' (JUST A DRILL NOT A WAY OF ALWAYS PLAYING) where you take your thumb off of the neck and find out how little pressure you actually need to fret the strings. Then add the thumb back as a guide.

You are doing great! I think you are ready to move forward. Solid 7 !!
