the only guitars i have ever had are a fender squier strat (i know dont laugh) and an even cheaper imitation strat. also some cheap nylon acoustic.

i saw this on ebay and i really like the look of it.

its £200 gbp but has an rrp of £350 which is probably like 600-700 usd. im an unemployed 17 year old with no money btw.

its also a semi-acoustic which i have absolutely no experience with. how do they handle compared to normal electrics or more specifically, stratocasters.

does semi-acoustic imply it sounds like an acoustic or plays like one, or both.

also your opinion on the guitar would be helpful. thanks a lot and sorry for the ignorance i've just never dealt with these before.

wow. i dont think im good enough to handle that, but it looks real nice. i bet u could get some great funky and skanky kinds of sounds out of it. 700 is a lot of money though...

you should try out a black beuty (sp) before you were to buy that. The feel with 3 pickup humbuckers on a lp is very differerent. I think they feel so weird that i can't even play them. It's all personal choice though they sound pretty nice though.

thanks for all of the replies and feedback.

i played on a friends semi-acoustic today. this one here doesn't have a sound hole.

how exactly is this a semi-acoustic then if it doesn't have a sound hole, does it mean that it produces acoustic like sounds through the amp?

also it says the body is 1.75 inches deep which is closer to the size of a normal electric.

sorry but im confused.

No problemo dude.

semi acoustic means , I THINK .. you can plug it in an amp .
And you can play without an amp .
Simpel smile.gif

erm i assume thats good?

yeah i know this thing can be plugged into an amp as theres an obvious lead-out on there as well as volume and tone dials biggrin.gif

what i mean is how do they feel in comparison to normal electrics. does the fretboard and neck feel like an acoustic fretboard and neck or like a normal electric one.

depends really but most of the semi hollows have a more electric type neck and a more acoustic type body they're nice, very distinct tone. By the way you should check out the taylor t5 pretty expensive but very cool guitar semihollow

ok i've learnt now that:

semi-acoustic = acoustic sounding electric

electro-acoustic = electric sounding acoustic.

i'm a lot less confused now after realising this. does anyone possess a semi-acoustic that they can record please as i want to hear the sort of sound that they produce.

thanks.

I would definitely not buy a guitar over Ebay, that is just my personal opinion since I prefer to play the guitar before I buy it. Although I have heard people who where satisfied with what they bought over Ebay.

Even if its all'bout the money its still comes down to what you get for your money. If you can and if you find a store that has this guitar, try it out at least first. Trying is for free and is the best way to get to know what the guitar is about.

About Semi-accustics I dont know much. Even though I've looked at them I never tried them out :-P
