Hey there,
Ive been following this guys work for quite some time now. A bit different style, and quite refreshing for steel string guitar music i think https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qTnkbcKyFg - Song is called Trilogie, and consists of 3 pieces. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRvRBQTqUKI - Song is called Memories of the future. What ya think? Sigge -------------------- It dont mean a thing if it aint got that swing |

Hey Sigge, I hope you don't mind, I had a DuFour topic going already so I just moved your post to it.
Anyway, yeah, it's worth bringing Antoine up again, because he has a new DVD out with Andy McKee on Candyrat Records. It has three songs on it that you can't get on CD yet - one of which isn't on YouTube (the two other unreleased tracks, "Mother" taken from the DVD and "Toi et Moi" can be viewed on YouTube though). http://youtube.com/watch?v=PlExaU0WOhY http://youtube.com/watch?v=iYgdPdPL25A http://youtube.com/watch?v=b8eacuydxOs I did a mini-review of his first album a couple of days ago on my site: http://instrumentalcase.com/EssentialInstrumental.aspx The aptly titled "Naissance" (meaning Birth) was progressive fingerstylist Antoine DuFour's first full-length album, and was the result of three years of writing. It features percussion and bass on some tracks, as well as virtuoso violinist Tommy Gauthier. This is prog fingerstyle in the truest sense, because many of Antoine's musical inspirations are prog rock bands, such as Dream Theater. DuFour's playing is very rhythmic (full of Don Ross style funk elements), but also flowing and melodic at all the right times. Antoine often experiments with odd tunings and partial capos, along with lots of slap harmonics and acoustic percussion. However, he's no Hedges clone; Antoine certinaly has a style of his own, which draws on a lot of influences outside of fingerstyle guitar (check out the acoustic-meets-electronica track, "Technoguitar"). Spiritual Groove https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNw9YaXemlM Wow! Thank you for posting this! For the first time in a long, long, long time I was struck by awe! Amazing guitarist. -------------------- QUOTE ("Steve Vai") Start by playing something - a bend, a riff, a scale, a song - very slowly; if you make a mistake, start over; do this over and over, until you can play it flawlessly - and I do mean flawlessly - many times in a row. Next, gradually increase the tempo. Eventually you'll be flailing like a madman. |

For anyone who's interested I have done basic guitar pro tabs of his version of Dracula and friends, Spiritual groove and Development. Spiritual groove and Development aren't finished yet but the tabs should give you the basic idea on how to play the songs. I made them mainly to have something to practice to. If anyone wants them let me know. /Marcus Can you show us how you play it? Not the tab,but video -------------------- Youtube
