Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Great Tom - this an excellent choice of lesson as it will boost your rhythm skills.

You are well on your way to mastering this one - but some more work is needed before sounding truly convincing.

In the faster parts where you need to use up strokes you are off rhythm wise (ie 00:07 and 00:36). The remedy here would be to spend more time practicing the slower tempos.

While practicing slower - try to imitate Steph's relaxed right hand movement. You might want research some other videos as well just to get an impression of where funk guitarists get their right hand movement from.

It seems to me your right hand is too stiff - it needs to be much looser in order to get a wider "trajectory" - if that makes sense.

You get a 5 from me - keep up the excellent work!

Hey there again!

I would mention that volume and dynamics "even" execution from your other take, refers to this one as well. Try to look at original take right hand motion. Stephane is moving his palm across particular range of strings and he keeps doing it through all the take. When we look at your right hand, we can notice it's going on the high strings then on the low, and then going back all over again. It's very random. You need to establish which strings are being played and keep your hand strumming across these ones. To be even more clear - Staphane makes these percussive, muted strums inbetween chords. You go to a low strings to hit them, while Stephane doesn't wink.gif Keep your hand stable in one position and things will work just fine wink.gif

Hi mate! Great choice!

I think that you are not far with this lesson, but as Kris and Darius said, there is still work to do in order to improve your funky rhythm playing. The two elements that can be improved are dynamics, and rhythm. Both are related to it's not a bad idea to try to master both in paralell. I recommend you to listen again to the original lesson, and compare it with yours, thinking on the two elements that I've marked. Then, practice trying to emulate Stephane's playing.

This could sound like a detail, but it's what will take your playing into a new level.

Keep on the good job.
