Hello Denis.
I do understand your question and the way I see things is that you should adjust your thumb along as you play different licks or techniques on different strings and positions. Per example, if you are playing some legato or maybe just a picking lick using 2 whole tones near the nut you'd probably need to put your thumb somewhere around middle of the neck or even lower, simply because you'd feel not comfortable if it sticks over the neck. On the other hand IMO this position with thumb at the middle of the neck (ala classical) isn't that great for performing solid bending and applying powerful vibrato. To do that I suggest you to move your thumb up, over the neck, to get solid grip and stand. Bottom line, keeping it at one position all the time isn't best solution imo. Hope this helps a little. -------------------- Youtube

Anytime, pozdrav! What about when you're doing very wide stretches? Any tip? That's a weak point for me. -------------------- LIVE FOR STEEL - DIE FOR STEEL!!!

What about when you're doing very wide stretches? Any tip? That's a weak point for me. As said above, wide stretched demand very low thumb position and your wrist has to go pretty much ahead. Now, you have to find sweet spot for your guitar, perhaps you're holding it too low? -------------------- Youtube

I hold it pretty high actually, but thanks I'll have to work on that, I'm not satisfied with the stretches I can do. -------------------- LIVE FOR STEEL - DIE FOR STEEL!!!
